Was on my way home this morning tuning in to Class95 Morning Express. Uncle James called in & commented on our happening Miss Singapore World - Ris Low, who was convicted of credit card fraud last May.
Uncle James said that she can be sent to win the Mis(s) Appropriate title. For awhile, I though this is not a bad idea since Singapore always wanted to be first anyway. Her name "RIS" may well mean "Retrieving Isn't Stealing". And the Ris(k) of her re-offending is "LOW".
Appreciated the joke but hope we will forgive, forget & stop the condemnation since she has given up the crown and resigned as Miss Singapore World 2009. ERM World Marketing said that she will no longer represent Singapore at Miss World 2009 in South Africa.
The organiser said it has met Ms Low and her parents and they have agreed to allow their daughter to resign from the crown as they feel is in the best interest for the Miss Singapore World Pageant and Singapore at large. They felt sorry for Miss Low but added that they cannot compromise on their contest rules, regulations and the image of the Miss Singapore World Pageant.
We should wish her all the best for her future endeavors and every success in her future pursuits. After all she is only 19. We all learn from our mistakes as we progress in life. Like the papers had said, perhaps her spoken English could also be an effect from her Bipolar disorder, since she was able to outshine other contestant in the Final.
