What are these strange lights in the sky?

The Science Centre said the unusual colours were caused by the refraction of the sun's light, the same way rainbows are made. Its called the cirrus clouds. These are located at high altitude (an area known as the troposphere) where the low temperature and low air pressure caused the water droplets to turn into ice crystals. The sun's light is split and scattered into separate colours by the water droplets or ice crystals in the cloud.

Apparently, the green colour in clouds is usually an indication of heavy rain, hail or a storm. Yellow and red colours usually indicate the presence of dust, smoke or haze particles in the cloud.
