Old Airport Road hawker centre reopens Today!

After more than a year of upgrading, stallholders will resume business at the Old Airport Road hawker centre today. The hawker centre, which was built in 1973, has been closed since March 2006 for a facelift upgrading under National Environment Agency's (NEA) Hawker Centres Upgrading Programme (HUP).

The upgraded two-storey building will comprise of 168 cooked food stalls and 54 lock-up stalls. Seating capacity has also been increased to 1,904 with the addition of
30 umbrella-shaded tables alfresco style dining located in the open plaza. The new facilities at the centre include a passenger lift, a covered linkway to the nearby carpark, handicapped-friendly facilities as well as food stalls with mechanical exhaust systems for improved ventilation.

Foodies can once again get their favourites like the wonton mee from Hua Kee, Lee Wee otah, De Ji laksa and the lor mee next to the laksa stall from among the stalls.
