LTA: F1 2009 - Road Closures & Public Transport

2009 FORMULA 1 SINGTEL SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX
Enhanced Public Transport Arrangements and Accessibility during Race

1. Race organisers for the 2009 FORMULA 1 SINGTEL SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX, which will take place from 25 to 27 September 2009, announced the traffic access plans for this year's race. Besides a shorter period of road closures, motorists, stakeholders, race-goers and visitors can continue to access the retail area and offices within the Marina Bay area through a series of public transport, road access and taxi arrangements made, to minimise inconvenience to public during the road closures.

Shorter road closures

2. This year, the road closure period has been significantly shortened from 12 to seven days. Roads will be closed from midnight, 23 September (Wednesday) until 29 September (Tuesday) to facilitate the set up and dismantling of race infrastructure. They will re-open progressively from 5am, 29 September (Tuesday) onwards and users will be able to access all affected roads by 5pm on the same day.

3. To facilitate the morning peak hour traffic, Nicoll Highway, Esplanade Drive and the stretch from Republic Avenue to Raffles Avenue1 will be open to traffic between 5am and 9am during the road closure period, except on 27 September (Sunday), the final day of the race.

4. Only accredited vehicles with pre-assigned decals, such as delivery vehicles and season parking ticket holders, will be allowed to drive into the area through a restricted road network to get to the various buildings within the circuit park when the roads closures are ongoing.
