Should have done this long time ago to prevent people from falling onto the track deliberately or accidentally.
Half-height platform screen doors will go up at three MRT stations by the end of this year. The first sets of doors were installed at the Pasir Ris MRT station on Wednesday. In December, apart from Pasir Ris, the 1.5m high doors will also start operating at Jurong East and Yishun stations.
The doors are meant to enhance commuter safety at above-ground MRT stations, and aimed at preventing people from falling onto the tracks. 92 people have fallen onto the tracks, whether by accident or otherwise since 2006. The 1.5m barriers are high enough to deter attempted suicides.
The entire project will cost S$126 million & by 2012, all 36 above-ground MRT stations will have the doors. Just hope that the cost won't be transfered to the commuters.

It has always been a trend that the gar-berment would wait for things to happen, then action to it de mah.
If no one jump down the track, i believed the gar-berment, wouldn't want to spend money to build such a half-high screen doors.
Now that the MRT is too high to jump, some had already switch to Railway track liao..
Wonder wat are they doing there? They should have hear the train loud sound before evening seeing the train, somemore its late at night, surrounding qhould be very quite.
Yeah man! Sooner or later, Railway track will be covered like MRT these days.
