Fuel Surcharge

I remember that the term "Fuel Surcharge" was first used by airlines due to the soring aero fuel price. The surcharge was added on top of the airport tax & it fluctuate from time to time. The current fuel surcharge for SIA is about US$80 to US$130 depending on destination. You can check out the Global Airline Fuel Surcharge to have an overview.

Following the airlines, for those going on board the luxurious cruise, there will be another additional of SG$49 to SG$116. Ocean Liners like the Star Cruise are also collecting fuel surcharge on top of the seaport tax.

Those frequent on SIN-KL express bus also feel the pinch as the Express Bus Agencies Association (EBAA), which accounts for 6 in 10 buses heading across the Singapore border, has raised its fuel surcharges from a previous flat fee of SG$3, to between SG$5 and SG$16. Grassland are charging around the same as EBAA recommended from SG$5 to SG$14.

Here raising there raising, this raising, that raising.. Following the Global trend of "extorting" extra for the fuel surcharge, now local cabbies from ComfortDelGro is going to start "extorting" from 17th July. Taking a cab will cost SG$0.30 more. The surcharge is a temporary measure to offset the spiralling increases in diesel costs and will be removed when diesel prices fall back to SG$1.19 per litre from current price tag of SG$2.033.
