WWII bomb found in trendy Tokyo area

Tokyo police found on Wednesday what appeared to be an unexploded bomb from World War II in the heart of one of the city's most fashionable districts.

The bomb, probably of the Japanese army, was 30 centimetres long and 7.5 centimetres wide. It was found on a small patch of land between a train track and a public toilet at a park in the trendy Ebisu district.

Officials suspect that someone might have moved the bomb to the area recently since it was not covered with soil. Experts did not think it was likely to explode. Police department declined to comment on the discovery.
