Strong quake hits Indonesia's Sumatra

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.2 struck off the west coast of Indonesia's Sumatra island, but there were no immediate reports of damage. The epicentre of the quake, which struck at 7:19 am today, was located about 129 kilometres southwest of the city of Padang, at a depth of 20 kilometres.

There were no tsunami warning issued after the tremor.

After the series of major quake that hit western Sumatra in last September, the aftershocks are still rattle the region.
